control; control your life, take control of your life

Christmas time. For most who celebrate it — chaos, stress, overwhelm.

You work till the very last minute. You hardly managed to get 50% of gifts for your loved ones — probably less.

But it’s also a beautiful time when family and friends return home. Some people you only meet once a year. Everyone tells their stories. Their highs and lows. Their wins and losses.

And often we realize 99% of people haven’t changed much. They’re still the same as last year.

We inevitably ask ourselves the questions:

Have I evolved?

Have I gotten closer to becoming the person I want to be?

If you answer “no” to one or both, this is the time to change that.

How To Become The Person You Want To Be

We’ve been through this journey of self-discovery and self-mastery ourselves, and let me tell you, it’s been a game-changer. It’s not always been amazing.

But if you’ve ever felt like you’re not living up to your full potential, stuck in a loop of what’s expected of you versus what you truly desire…

Then trust me, breaking free from that cycle is within reach.

And the holidays are the best time to take off and start the new year with renewed vigor.

Here’s how:

"To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment."

Step 1: Discover your authentic self

Michelangelo foresaw the finished sculpture in the block of marble. Your authentic self is in there.

Chip off those layers of ego, expectations, and self-doubt. It’s time to explore your true self and carve out what truly resonates with you.

  • What are your values?
  • What makes you happy?
  • What sets your soul on fire?

Once you know what’s important to you, you can start to live a life that’s true to yourself.

Step 2: Develop good habits

We’ve been talking about this countless times: cultivating positive habits becomes your secret tool set.

Good habits are like the hammer and chisel that carve Michelangelo’s “David” out of a block of white marble. You’re shaping yourself into the person you want to be.

The essentials:

  • Having that growth mindset.
  • Being disciplined.
  • Taking care of yourself — mind and body.

Ever realized how a simple shift in perspective can change everything?

Step 3: Take control of your story

Seriously, your thoughts control your entire reality. Shape it even. Don’t let negative thoughts and beliefs hold you back.

Don’t listen to your inner voice when it tries to

  • drag you down,
  • belittle you, or
  • hold you back.

The ego is selfish. It wants to protect itself. Because bringing your true authentic self to light means death to your anxious, mediocre version.

You’re not only one piece of art. You’re the entire sculpture garden. With every piece, Michelangelo created something 10x better than the one before.

Outgrow yourself with new skills

Most of us know exactly what to do. Knowledge is vast in this hyperconnected world. We simply refuse the call to action. We scared to death. Not scared of failure.

We’re scared by the possibility to succeed.

“What would my family think when I’m 10x more successful then they are?”

“What would my friends think of me?”

You know what?

It doesn’t matter. This is your life. No one will live it for you. It’s a precious gift you only receive once. It took a lot of inner work to come to this point. Scary, but so worth it.

Surround yourself with the ones who lift you up. Who share your vibe and values.

→ If you want to be fit and healthy but your family is not, it doesn’t matter.

→ If you want to travel the world and your friends would rather stay at home, so what?

→ If you want to start your own business and your friends want to stay in corporate, so what?

It is your — and only your — decision.

“Your time is limited, don’t waste it living someone else’s life.” — Steve Jobs

One Hack to Get Ahead of 95% of People Now

Exercise like you would in a ‘normal’ month.

Most people allow their exercise schedule to drop off in December. Several variables are at play, particularly in cold climates, for why this is.

Also, Christmas and feeling burned out towards the end of a long year.

But here’s the trouble with that. If we feel burned out, the last thing we want to do is eat more junk and exercise less.

Do this instead:

Maintain some decent daily exercise. It doesn’t have to be as vigorous as during the other 11 months. But it will boost your mental health, stave off the love handles, and set you up for a significant advantage at the start of 2024.

We’re committed to becoming better every day and improving all the areas in our lives.
